Benefits of training

Movement is medicine

“Aikido teaches a simple secret that development of better life is dependent on bettering yourself. Aikido offers no miracles except the miracle of your own existence and your human potential, remember that you are a part of the universe.”

Mitsugi Saotome - “The Principles of Aikido”

Two people blurred due to motion. The person on the right is reaching for the wrist of the person on the left.

What we do

In aikido we train how to: move our bodies in a martial context; avoid strikes and kicks; take another person's balance; recover from losing our own balance; face multiple attackers; disarm a weapon attack; clear our own weapon for use against an opponent.

Aikidoka develop good core strength, balance, leg strength, and flexibility.

Forest Grove Aikido classes are open to everyone.
